A small group of entrepreneurs who saw the potential for the locking technology represented in the SpeedClips barbell collars, invented by David R. (Dave) Davies.
SpeedClips USA barbell collars are being manufactured in Dave's home town of Richmond, Virginia. That means, MADE IN THE USA!
Meet Dave and more of our team below.
Whatever we are as a company is nothing without those of you who have started using the SpeedClips collars. So, thanks for your support! We love feedback, so let us hear from you!
Dave Davies filed his first patent in 1993 for a unique and advanced design stretching machine. The MedX Core Super Stretch, which was ultimately licensed to a fitness marketing company, is still in production today and recognized globally as state of the art for leg, back & hip rehab and fitness. In 2005, Dave was asked to design a weight line for Star Trac Fitness, a global leader in commercial fitness equipment. Today, Dave has a dozen weight plate patent designs and licensees around the world. Foreman Fitness, Fitness First in Europe, UFC Gym, Crunch and other well known fitness facility operators use Dave’s designs.
In 2010, Dave learned of the repeated occurrence of accidents in fitness facilities from members not using collars with free weights. Dave began the process of developing better collars and self-locking weight technology. Dave designed and filed the first of several patents on safer weight plates that automatically lock when placed on a bar in 2013. Dave understood the Self-Locking Plate Technology would be an industry wide safety innovation.
Randy has spent the past 37 years as an entrepreneur developing marketing products and business ideas. He developed Sea View Tourist Guide 1986, an 84-page full color travel & entertainment publication that was specially designed to be inserted permanently into the Yellow Pages Phone Directory, where it was published in 16 resort markets. Randy also founded the Markets Best, a 500-plus page full-color enamel gloss annual leisure directory that provided cash certificates for high-end retail, restaurants, entertainment, attractions, golfing, etc. It was highly successful in gaining participation by upscale retail and restaurants that had never used “coupon” type promotions. The publication was purchased by Landmark Communication’s, Virginian Pilot Newspaper 2001. Randy went on to found Innovative Excellence, LLC, which was a national distributor of Activeion, a hand-held spray appliance which, through an ionization process, converted ordinary tap water to a sanitizing solution for hard surface cleaning. The experience with Activeion led to Randy’s recognition of market opportunities that existed with other functional water technologies. As a result, Randy was a founder and Marketing V.P. at eWater America, LLC, a sales & marketing and technology company representing electrolyzed water systems. Randy also is the founder of Electrolyzed Innovations, a patented technology that is currently being taken to market.
